A perfectly preserved Zapotec tomb dating to the Classic period (200-900 CE) has been discovered beneath a residential complex in Oaxaca, Mexico. The tomb features stunning murals depicting ritual scenes and genealogical records, providing a rare glimpse into the funerary customs of the 'Cloud People'.
Along with the murals, the tomb contained jade ornaments, finely crafted ceramics, and the remains of high-ranking individuals. Experts believe this discovery will help refine the timeline of Zapotec political expansion and their interactions with the neighboring Maya and Teotihuacan civilizations.
