Archaeologists in the Netherlands have uncovered a massive prehistoric sanctuary consisting of a circular wooden monument similar in design to England's Stonehenge. Dating back approximately 4,000 years, the site near the city of Tiel served as a religious and burial ground where the sun's alignment was tracked during solstices.
Excavations revealed thousands of artifacts, including animal skeletons, human remains, and bronze objects, which were left as offerings at specific points in the circle. The 'Woodhenge' is the first of its kind found in the country, indicating a shared astronomical and spiritual culture across Bronze Age Europe.
