Marine archaeologists using high-resolution sonar have identified the structural foundations of what appears to be a Pallava-era temple complex submerged off the coast of Tamil Nadu. The discovery aligns with local legends of the 'Seven Pagodas' and suggests that the coastline extended significantly further into the Bay of Bengal during the 7th and 8th centuries.
Preliminary diving expeditions have documented granite blocks with distinct carvings and architectural features similar to the Shore Temple. This discovery provides critical data for climate archaeology, indicating significant sea-level changes in the region over the last millennium.
