Archaeologists in China have unearthed six new ritual pits at the Sanxingdui site, containing hundreds of bronze masks, gold foils, and ivory carvings. These artifacts belong to the mysterious Shu Kingdom and display a unique aesthetic distinct from the traditional Shang Dynasty culture.
The finds include bronze 'trees of life' and masks with protruding eyes, suggesting a highly spiritual and shamanistic society. The discovery is being hailed as one of the most important archaeological events in 21st-century East Asian history.
