Marine archaeologists have located a 2,700-year-old Phoenician trading vessel resting 110 meters below the surface off the coast of Gozo, Malta. The wreck is carrying a diverse cargo of amphorae, grinding stones, and bronze artifacts, indicating a complex maritime trade network.
The shipwreck is one of the oldest and best-preserved examples of Phoenician naval technology ever found in the Mediterranean. Scientists are using underwater ROVs to map the site and recover organic samples for carbon dating.
