High-Precision Smelting Techniques Discovered in Bronze Age Ural Settlements

Analysis of slag and crucibles from the Sintashta culture in the Southern Urals has revealed unexpectedly high levels of metallurgical precision dating back to 2000 BCE. Researchers found that ancient smiths were capable of reaching and maintaining temperatures over 1,300 degrees Celsius to produce exceptionally pure copper and bronze alloys, which were then used to manufacture the world's earliest known chariots.

The study also identified the use of specialized fluxes made from local minerals to remove impurities. This evidence suggests that the Ural steppe was a major global center of technological innovation that fundamentally changed the nature of ancient warfare and transportation.
