A new study using high-precision satellite data has confirmed that the Sun Temple at Modhera was engineered with extreme astronomical accuracy. Researchers found that during the equinoxes, the first rays of the sun pass through the main gateway and strike the inner sanctum with less than a 0.1-degree margin of error.
The study highlights the advanced mathematical and astronomical knowledge of the Solanki dynasty architects. It also suggests that the temple served as a functional observatory for calculating the solar calendar and agricultural cycles.
