Azerbaijan Pavilion at Venice Biennale Explores Hurufi Philosophy Through Quantum-Inspired Art

At the 61st Venice Biennale, the Azerbaijani national pavilion has debuted an innovative exhibition titled “The Attention,” curated by visual artist Faig Ahmed. The project draws deep conceptual roots from the legacy of the 14th-century Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi and the Hurufi philosophical tradition, which posits that the universe is structured through the sacred nature of letters and sounds.

The exhibition utilizes a combination of traditional Azerbaijani carpet weaving and advanced technologies, including quantum systems and neuro-reactive data. By doing so, it creates a contemporary dialogue between medieval mystical ontology and modern physics, suggesting that reality is a construct of human consciousness and attention. This presentation marks a significant effort to export Azerbaijani wisdom traditions to a global stage, framing ancient Hurufism as a precursor to modern theories of perceptual reality.
