Archaeologists unearth 100-metre-long ancient structure in Taxila

Archaeologists have discovered a previously unstudied, massive ancient structure measuring nearly 100 metres in length and 50 metres in width at the Jandial site in the Khanpur-Taxila region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The monument, designated as Jandial D, is situated opposite the famous Ionic temple of Jandial, outside the ancient fortified city of Sirkap.

This significant find is expected to provide new insights into the urban landscape and historical development of the Gandhara civilization. Experts note that the site's location and scale suggest a complex intersection of South Asian, Iranian, Central Asian, and Hellenistic cultural traditions, further highlighting the region's role as a historical crossroads.
