A rare birch-bark manuscript containing a previously unknown Sanskrit medical treatise on Kaumarabhritya (pediatrics) has been identified in a private family library in Kathmandu. The manuscript, written in the late Gupta script, details herbal formulations and dietary guidelines for infants.
The text includes chapters on neonatal care and the management of childhood diseases, showing a highly developed understanding of pediatric health. Scholars are now working on a critical edition to compare these findings with existing Ayurvedic classics like the Charaka Samhita.
