The Maharashtra government has announced the temporary closure of the historic Shri Mahaganpati Temple in Ranjangaon to facilitate critical conservation and restoration works. As part of the broader Ashtavinayak development plan, the project is being managed by the state's Archaeology Department and is scheduled to run through July 2026.
Conservation efforts will focus on structural stabilization and the preservation of the temple's traditional architectural elements, which have faced natural wear over centuries. While daily rituals such as pooja and abhishek will continue behind closed doors to maintain religious continuity, public access has been restricted to ensure the safety of devotees and the integrity of the delicate restoration process.
