12th-Century 'Tantra-Vijnana' Manuscript on the Philosophy of Subjective Reality Recovered in Kathmandu

A rare 12th-century manuscript titled Tantra-Vijnana-Darshana has been recovered from a private ancestral library in Kathmandu, Nepal. Written in the Newari script, the text provides a profound analysis of 'subjective reality' (Sva-Samvedana), arguing that the external world is a projection of internal cognitive structures. The manuscript draws heavily from the Pratyabhijna (Recognition) school of Kashmir Shaivism but adds a unique Himalayan perspective on the role of 'sacred geography' in shaping consciousness.

The recovery was made possible through the Lumbini Cultural Initiative, which works to digitize and preserve endangered texts. Dr. Rajesh Gurung, a specialist in Himalayan philosophy, stated that the manuscript contains previously unknown verses that discuss the 'Ethics of Perception,' emphasizing that how we perceive others directly dictates our moral obligation toward them. The document is being hailed as a masterpiece of medieval phenomenology.
