Archaeological surveys in the Supe Valley have identified several previously unknown circular plazas aligned with the rising of the Pleiades star cluster. These structures, belonging to the Caral-Supe civilization, appear to have served as the focal point for massive communal gatherings celebrating the beginning of the agricultural year.
Analysis of organic remains at the site revealed residues of fermented tubers and seafood, suggesting that these celestial events were accompanied by large-scale feasting. This finding pushes the origins of Andean harvest festivals back over 4,500 years, highlighting the connection between celestial observation and cultural celebration.
