Research Identifies Fractal Scaling Laws in 12th-Century 'Somnath' Temple Layouts Linking Architecture to Vedic Cosmology

A new architectural analysis of the structural blueprints of the 12th-century Somnath Temple has identified the use of complex fractal scaling laws in its spire (Shikhara) construction. The study suggests that these mathematical patterns were intentionally used to mirror Vedic cosmological concepts of the infinite self-similarity of the universe.

Using LiDAR data and 3D geometric modeling, researchers found that the ratios between different levels of the temple follow a rigorous logarithmic progression. This research provides scientific evidence that medieval Indian architects possessed a deep understanding of recursive geometry and its application to massive stone structures for both aesthetic and structural stability.
