Archaeologists working in the dense Hasdeo Aranya forest region of Chhattisgarh have discovered the foundational ruins of a significant 8th-century temple complex. Attributed to the Kalachuri dynasty, the site features uniquely carved sandstone pillars and a partially intact sanctum floor that suggests a departure from standard regional styles of that era.
The excavation has so far revealed a structural layout indicating a sprawling complex with multiple smaller shrines surrounding a central deity platform. Experts believe this discovery will provide critical insights into the early medieval socio-religious landscape of central India, particularly concerning the patronage of the Kalachuris before their primary ascent in the Ratanpur region.
