Rare 11th-Century 'Paramara' Era Vishnu Temple with Intact 'Dashavatara' Friezes Discovered in Rural Malwa

A previously unrecorded temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu has been discovered in a remote valley of the Malwa region in Madhya Pradesh. Dating back to the 11th-century Paramara era, the temple is notable for its remarkably intact 'Dashavatara' friezes, which depict the ten incarnations of Vishnu with exceptional anatomical detail.

The temple's shikhara (tower) remains partially standing despite centuries of neglect, showing the resilient 'Bhumija' style of architecture. Local authorities have begun cordoning off the area to prevent looting while a team from the Archaeological Survey of India prepares for a full-scale documentation and preservation effort.
