The State Hermitage Museum has finalized the restitution of a world-renowned 16th-century Safavid-era 'Silk Hunt' carpet to the National Art Museum of Azerbaijan. The carpet, celebrated for its intricate depictions of courtly hunting scenes and vibrant natural dyes, was removed from Baku during the early Soviet period.
The return marks a landmark agreement in trans-border heritage diplomacy. Experts emphasize that the carpet's relocation will allow for localized research into the specific silk-weaving techniques and natural mordants used in the Shirvan region during the Safavid peak.
