A previously unknown 11th-century manuscript titled 'Prakriti-Vidya' has been discovered in a private collection in Mysuru. Written in the Grantha script, the work is a philosophical treatise on the relationship between Purusha (consciousness) and Prakriti (nature), but with a specific focus on the ethical stewardship of ecological cycles. It frames environmental balance as a core component of Sanatan Dharma.
The manuscript argues that the "balance of the elements" is a moral imperative, framing environmental degradation as a failure of Dharma. It provides a metaphysical basis for the conservation of forests and water sources, describing the Prana of the earth as inextricably linked to human well-being. Scholars believe this text represents an early synthesis of Samkhya philosophy and practical environmental ethics.
