Archaeologists working at high altitudes have recovered organic materials, including leather footwear, woven wool textiles, and wooden shepherd's crooks, which were trapped in ice for over three millennia. These finds offer a rare glimpse into the seasonal migration patterns of ancient mountain communities.
The artifacts suggest that ancient herders utilized high-altitude pastures far earlier than previously thought, adapting their lifestyles to shifting climatic conditions during the sub-Boreal period. The discovery of grain residues in ceramic vessels also hints at a more complex diet and potential small-scale cultivation in these rugged environments.
