11th-Century 'Prameya-Siddhi' Manuscript Discovered in Mithila Reshapes Theories of Material Causality

Scholars in the Mithila region of Bihar have recovered a significant 11th-century treatise titled 'Prameya-Siddhi', which offers a radical departure from mainstream Vaisheshika atomism. The manuscript explores the concept of 'Apurva-Karana', or the invisible causal link between intent and physical manifestation, proposing that consciousness acts as a fundamental substratum for atomic cohesion.

This discovery is being hailed as a major breakthrough in understanding the medieval synthesis between logic and metaphysics. The author, tentatively identified as a follower of the Udayana school, utilizes complex syllogisms to argue against purely mechanistic views of the universe, providing a missing link in the development of Navya-Nyaya logic.
