6th-Century 'Atma-Yoga' Birch Bark Scroll Discovered in the Western Ghats Outlines the Metaphysics of Self-Observation

Archaeologists exploring a high-altitude cave system in the Western Ghats have recovered a remarkably well-preserved birch-bark scroll from the 6th Century CE. Titled 'Atma-Yoga', the scroll details a forgotten system of philosophy focused on 'Sakshi-Bhava', or the development of the 'witness-consciousness' as the primary tool for understanding the nature of reality.

The text provides a series of mental exercises designed to decouple the observer from the observed, a technique it calls 'Pratyaya-Viveka'. Scholars believe this discovery identifies a unique bridge between early Patanjali Yoga and the burgeoning non-dualist schools, offering new perspectives on the practical application of metaphysics in ancient Indian contemplative traditions.
