12th-Century 'Vijnana-Nyasa' Manuscript Discovered in Srirangam Explores the Philosophy of Cognitive Humility

A hidden compartment in the archives of the Srirangam Temple has yielded a 12th-century Grantha manuscript titled 'Vijnana-Nyasa', or 'The Entrustment of Knowledge.' The text, likely written by a disciple of the Vishishtadvaita school, outlines a unique epistemology of humility. It argues that true wisdom (Vijnana) is not the accumulation of facts, but the conscious recognition of the limits of human perception and logic.

The manuscript includes a series of 'cognitive exercises' intended to help the practitioner detach from intellectual ego, asserting that the 'Ultimate Reality' can only be glimpsed when the mind ceases its attempt to categorize the infinite. This discovery adds a new layer to our understanding of the Bhakti-Vedanta synthesis, highlighting a rigorous intellectual path that leads directly to devotional surrender.
