During structural reinforcement of the 1,000-year-old Sri Ramalingeshwara Temple in Vikarabad, conservationists discovered a hidden cavity beneath the primary threshold. Inside the chamber, researchers found a set of six inscribed copper plates detailing the Vastu Shastra (architectural geometry) used specifically for the temple's unique multi-tiered spire.
The inscriptions are written in Hale Kannada script and provide rare insights into the medieval engineering techniques used to stabilize massive stone blocks without mortar. The Telangana Heritage Department plans to digitize these records to assist in the ongoing restoration of other Chalukyan monuments across the Deccan plateau.
