Massive 4,500-Year-Old 'Indus Valley Bronze-Weaponry Arsenal' and Intact Casting Molds Uncovered at Ganweriwala

New excavations at the often-overlooked Indus Valley site of Ganweriwala have revealed a massive Bronze Age arsenal located near the city’s western citadel. The dig uncovered over 200 standardized bronze spearheads, daggers, and arrowheads, many found within their original clay casting molds. This discovery challenges the long-held perception of the Indus Valley Civilization as a purely pacifist society, suggesting instead a highly organized military manufacturing capability similar to those found in contemporary Mesopotamia.

The arsenal features a series of high-heat furnaces and a unique 'quality control' station where stone touchstones were used to verify the purity of the copper and tin alloys. Researchers noted that the geometric precision of the weapon designs suggests they were manufactured according to a central state mandate. This find provides the first clear evidence of a large-scale specialized military industrial zone within a major Harappan urban center, indicating that Ganweriwala played a strategic role in regional defense.
