Restoration of 11th-Century 'Kalyani Chalukya' Era Trikuta Temple in Telangana’s Sangareddy District Uncovers Rare Bronze Ritual Vessels

During the ongoing structural restoration of a Kalyani Chalukya Trikuta temple in Sangareddy, workers discovered a hidden cache of 11th-century bronze ritual vessels. The artifacts, including ceremonial lamps and incense burners, were found in a sealed stone box beneath the floor of the northern shrine. These items provide a rare glimpse into the specific liturgical practices of the Chalukyan era.

The temple itself is a masterpiece of Vesara architecture, and the restoration project aims to reintegrate fallen ceiling slabs using traditional lime-mortar techniques. The discovery of the bronzes suggests that the temple may have been a major center for pilgrimage and royal patronage, as the quality of the metalwork is exceptional. The artifacts will be moved to a local museum following conservation.
