In the southern reaches of Vietnam, researchers have discovered a hidden cache of intricately cast bronze frog figurines dating back 2,200 years. These artifacts, found arranged in a circular formation near an ancient waterway, are believed to be the central icons for a prehistoric 'Festival of the Rising Monsoon'.
The frogs feature unique geometric engravings and are hollowed out to act as resonant percussion instruments. This find provides a direct link between the DONG SON culture's ritual metalwork and the enduring water-blessing traditions still practiced across Southeast Asia today, highlighting the long-standing cultural importance of frogs as symbols of fertility and rain.
