4,500-Year-Old 'Harappan Cart-Wheel Manufactory' and Intact Acacia-Wood Hubs Uncovered in Rural Haryana

Archaeologists working at a newly identified Indus Valley outpost in Haryana have discovered what appears to be a specialized industrial sector for the manufacture of bullock carts. The team recovered several charred but structurally intact acacia-wood wheel hubs, along with bronze chisels and stone templates used for carving standardized spokes.

This discovery highlights the incredible degree of logistical standardization within Harappan society, as the wheel dimensions match those found in sites over 500 miles away. The presence of a dedicated wheel-making quarter suggests that transport vehicle production was a centralized craft, essential for maintaining the vast internal trade networks that defined the civilization.
