Intact 26th-Dynasty 'Master of the Royal Treasury' Tomb Unveiled at Saqqara with Rare Gilded Funerary Statues

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced the opening of a lavish tomb at the Saqqara Necropolis belonging to a high-ranking official from the Saite Period. The tomb, which remained sealed for over 2,500 years, contains a massive basalt sarcophagus and a collection of rare gilded wooden statues representing various protective deities.

The inscriptions on the tomb walls identify the occupant as the "Overseer of the Royal Treasury," providing a glimpse into the economic administration of Egypt's 26th Dynasty. The find is particularly important for its pristine condition, with the original pigments on the painted reliefs remaining exceptionally vibrant.
