A rare palm-leaf manuscript titled 'Pramana-Bindu-Vatika' has been discovered in a private collection in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Written in an early Devanagari script, the text serves as a revolutionary commentary on the nature of 'valid knowledge' (pramana). Unlike contemporary works of the 11th century that focused on rigid syllogisms, this manuscript introduces the concept of 'Anubhava-Siddhi'βthe validation of truth through consistent subjective experience combined with objective logic.
The discovery is expected to shift scholarly understanding of how medieval Indian philosophers reconciled internal spiritual experiences with the rigorous demands of the Nyaya-Vaisheshika schools. Experts note that the author, a scholar named Jayamitra, argues that truth is not a static object to be found, but a dynamic relationship between the observer's clarity of mind and the inherent properties of the object being observed.
