Archaeologists and computer scientists have announced a major breakthrough in the decipherment of fragmented 7th-century manuscripts found in the Bundelkhand region. Using a new Neural-Paleography algorithm, the team successfully read palimpsests written in the enigmatic Kutila script. The decoded text contains a lost botanical treatise titled Shushka-Pushpa-Vijnana, which details the systematic classification and medicinal uses of orchid species native to arid rocky terrains.
This scholarly find is significant because it predates many known Indian botanical texts and demonstrates a highly sophisticated understanding of plant taxonomy and reproductive cycles. The manuscript even describes protocols for enhancing the growth of these rare orchids using specific soil-mineral mixtures, providing evidence of early experimental botany in the Indian subcontinent.
