Archaeologists from the National Institute of Archaeology have announced the discovery of a 2,000-year-old Parthian-era military outpost situated high in the Kopet Dag mountain range. The site, which served as a strategic watchtower guarding the northern Silk Road routes, features a multi-story stone fortification with an intact armory and residential quarters for soldiers.
The most significant find within the ruins is a lead-lined ceramic vessel containing over 400 silver drachmas, many featuring the profile of King Mithridates II. Researchers also recovered bronze arrowheads, iron chainmail fragments, and several terracotta seals that suggest the outpost maintained a rigorous administrative record of passing caravans and military dispatches.
