New Research Correlates 2nd Millennium BCE 'Kathaka' Ritual Layers to the Precise Observation of the Great Conjunction of Saturn and Mars in the Constellation of Shatabhisha in 1750 BCE

A multidisciplinary study has linked specific astronomical references in the Kathaka Samhita to a rare celestial event. By using advanced astronomical simulations, researchers have confirmed that a Great Conjunction of Saturn and Mars occurred within the constellation of Shatabhisha (Aquarius) during the year 1750 BCE, aligning perfectly with the descriptions found in the ritual layers of the text.

The study argues that these Vedic texts served as observational logs that helped ancient priests calibrate ritual calendars to the movement of planets. This findings reinforce the high level of observational precision maintained by ancient Indian astronomers and provide a firm chronological anchor for the composition of the later layers of the Black Yajurveda.
