A mission led by the Supreme Council of Antiquities has announced the discovery of a 2,200-year-old Ptolemaic temple dedicated to the goddesses Isis and Nephthys in the Faiyum Oasis. Termed the 'Temple of the Two Sisters,' the structure remains remarkably well-preserved beneath the desert sands, featuring a series of limestone halls adorned with vivid astronomical ceilings.
The most significant find includes two life-sized limestone statues of the twin goddesses, still standing in their original positions within the inner sanctuary. The temple complex also contains a rare subterranean chamber used for ritual embalming, as evidenced by intact terracotta vessels containing aromatic resins and silver votive mirrors offered by ancient pilgrims.
