12th-Century 'Yukti-Deepika-Vimarsha' Manuscript on the Logic of Perceptual Error Discovered in a Remote Malwa Vault

A 12th-century philosophical treatise titled Yukti-Deepika-Vimarsha has been discovered in a forgotten subterranean vault of a temple in the Malwa region. The manuscript is a detailed commentary on the nature of Khyati, or the theory of error in perception. It explores why the human mind misidentifies objects—such as mistaking a rope for a snake—and uses these errors to build a robust epistemological defense of objective reality.

The text is significant for its use of mathematical metaphors to explain optical illusions and cognitive biases, showing a level of analytical sophistication that predates similar inquiries in Western philosophy. Professor Anjali Sharma of the University of Malwa stated that the manuscript provides a crucial missing link in the transition from late classical logic to the more specialized medieval schools. The discovery is currently undergoing preservation treatment at the National Museum.
