Intact 4th-Dynasty 'Master of the Royal Weavers' Tomb Unveiled at Saqqara with Rare 4,500-Year-Old Loom Fragments and Linens

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced the opening of a pristine 4th-Dynasty tomb at the Saqqara Necropolis. Belonging to a high-ranking official titled the 'Master of the Royal Weavers,' the tomb features exceptionally vivid wall reliefs depicting the entire process of linen production, from flax harvesting to the final weaving of royal garments.

Inside the burial chamber, archaeologists discovered charred but recognizable fragments of a wooden horizontal loom and several rolls of finely woven linen, some of which still retain their original pleats. This find is extraordinary as it provides physical evidence of textile technology and labor organization during the era of the Great Pyramids.
