The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced the discovery of a pristine tomb belonging to the Master of the Royal Papyrus-Processing Guild. Located in the Memphis necropolis, the burial chamber contains unique reliefs detailing the industrial chemistry used to bleach and strengthen papyrus fibers for use in imperial archives during the Late Period.
Alongside the sarcophagus, archaeologists found a cache of rare linen-paper blueprints that describe the construction of specialized hydraulic drying vats and fiber-pressing machines. These artifacts represent the most complete record of late-period Egyptian paper manufacturing ever found, highlighting the economic importance of the industry during the 26th Dynasty's administrative expansion.
