Restoration of 9th-Century 'Paramara' Dynasty Temple in Ujjain Reveals Hidden Subterranean 'Sudarshana-Yantra' Layout

During structural reinforcement of a neglected 9th-century Shiva temple in Ujjain, restoration experts discovered an extensive subterranean floor plan arranged in the precise shape of a Sudarshana Yantra. The foundation stones, made of high-density granite, are inscribed with Sanskrit mantras intended to purify the spiritual energy of the site before the main structure was erected.

This find provides the first physical evidence of esoteric geometric foundations described in the Samarangana Sutradhara, a famous medieval treatise on architecture. The project, funded by the National Culture Fund, aims to preserve these hidden layers for public viewing through reinforced glass flooring that will be installed during the final restoration phase.
