11th-Century 'Tarka-Prana-Viveka' Manuscript Discovered in Rural Vidarbha Reshapes History of Vedic Dialectics

Scholars at the Vidarbha Heritage Center have announced the discovery of a remarkably well-preserved palm-leaf manuscript titled 'Tarka-Prana-Viveka'. Found in a sealed chest within a family archive in Washim, the text dates back to the 11th century and presents a sophisticated dialogue between a master logician and a student of the Nyaya-Vaisheshika school.

The treatise is unique for its synthesis of dialectical reasoning (Tarka) and the metaphysics of vital breath (Prana). It argues that logical clarity is not merely a mental exercise but a physiological state achieved through the regulation of vital energy, offering a bridge between Indian logic and early hatha yoga traditions that was previously thought to be less integrated during this period.
