11th-Century 'Kalyani Chalukya' Era Shiva Temple with Unique 'Acoustic-Resonance' Pillars Discovered in Telangana’s Yadadri District

Archaeologists in the Yadadri district of Telangana have identified the ruins of an 11th-century Shiva temple from the Kalyani Chalukya period featuring revolutionary "acoustic-resonance" pillars. These hollowed basalt columns were engineered to produce specific musical frequencies when struck or during rhythmic chanting, intended to amplify the spiritual atmosphere of the inner sanctum.

The temple complex includes a large mandapa with twelve pillars, each representing a different zodiac sign, and a central lingam made of rare black granite. Preliminary studies suggest that the temple was a center for Vedic studies, as evidenced by nearby inscriptions detailing the housing of scholars and the systematic use of the pillars' resonance for sonic therapy during religious ceremonies.
