Scholars at the National Institute of Prakrit Studies have cataloged a rare 10th-century palm-leaf manuscript discovered in a subterranean vault near Shravanabelagola. Titled 'Veda-Mimamsa-Jyoti', the text provides a unique synthesis of Vedic ritualism and epistemological light theory, exploring how the physical light of the sacrificial fire corresponds to the internal 'illumination' of the intellect.
The work is attributed to a lost lineage of southern Mimamsakas who argued that ritual performance was a form of experimental physics designed to refine human perception. This discovery provides fresh insights into the intellectual diversity of medieval Karnataka, showing a vibrant exchange between Brahmanical ritual logic and Jain mathematical precision in the region.
