Pristine 26th-Dynasty 'Director of the Royal Architectural-Levelling Standards' Tomb Unveiled in Saqqara with Rare Bronze Plumb-Line Weights

Archaeologists working in the Saqqara necropolis have announced the discovery of an intact tomb belonging to a high-ranking official from the 26th Dynasty, identified as the 'Director of the Royal Architectural-Levelling Standards.' The burial chamber, located south of the Step Pyramid of Djoser, contains an exceptionally preserved limestone sarcophagus and a unique set of administrative tools used for monumental construction projects.

The most significant find within the chamber is a collection of bronze plumb-line weights and standardized measuring rods, some of which still bear traces of the official royal seal. These artifacts provide unprecedented insight into the rigorous engineering standards applied during the Saite Period's architectural renaissance, particularly in the alignment of temple foundations and pyramidion placements.
