The National Center for Cultural Heritage in Mongolia and the Turkish Institute of Archaeology have signed a five-year memorandum to conduct intensive excavations in the Tuul River valley. The project focuses on identifying and preserving monuments from the Turkic Khaganate era, combining traditional archaeology with climate change studies and ethnology to understand ancient nomadic life.

This collaboration aims to uncover lost sacred landscapes and burial mounds associated with the early medieval steppe empires. By utilizing advanced remote sensing and archaeological surveying, the teams hope to better understand the territorial organization and environmental adaptation strategies of the Turkic peoples who once centered their political power in the Mongolian heartland.
