For the first time in history, Mongolia has officially taken its seat on the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the 2025-2029 term. The government has announced that its primary focus for 2026 will be advocating for the global recognition of nomadic civilizations and the impact of climate change on high-altitude heritage sites across Central and North Asia.
During the recent session, Mongolian delegates emphasized the "History of Nomadic Civilizations" series, a resolution aimed at elevating the historical and societal contributions of mobile societies to human progress. This diplomatic milestone is expected to accelerate new World Heritage nominations and strengthen the country's international standing in cultural diplomacy and heritage protection.
